Born 1968 in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Studied at HFT Stuttgart architecture. Shortly after completing his degree (Diplom-Ingenieur FH), he joined the paternal architectural office in Blaufelden. Since 1995 he is working as a freelance architect, first in an office co-operation with his father Eugen Beck. In 2000 he took over the architectural office, which today has a branch in Schwaebisch Hall.
From 2005 to 2006 doctoral studies in the field of building economics at the Bauhaus University Weimar, followed by a scientific examination of the architectural performance. 2010 PhD at the Professorship for Architecture Management and Building Economics of the Bauhaus University Weimar (Prof. Bernd Nentwig) with a dissertation on models of the construction industry, architectural office management and planning service. 2010/2011 lecturer at the professorship for Architecture Management and Building Economics of the Bauhaus University Weimar, from 2011 to 2019 Lecturer for architectural practice management at the Department of Construction and Project Development at the University of Kassel. Until 2014 Alexander Beck was chairman of the Schwaebisch Hall architects' chamber group. From 2014 to 2019, together with Eberhard Neumann and Klaus Huber, he was managing director of the urban planning and consulting company German Planning and Development GmbH (GPD), based in Schwäbisch Hall. This was followed in 2019 by the founding of ASPplan GmbH. Since 2021, he has been a member of the 'Denkmalschutz' specialist list of the Baden-Wuerttemberg Chamber of Architects.
He also works on conceptual art projects, which through photography are concerned with questions of society and philosophy.
